德国法兰克福席恩美术馆(Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt)的展览“巴斯奎亚：真正的轰动“(Basquiat：Boom for Real)说明了：我们对让-米歇尔·巴斯奎亚的神化依旧超越了对他艺术作品的理解，“他创作的那些不同寻常作品的历史、文化语境常常被忽视，”法兰克福席恩美术馆馆长兼本次展览的策展人Philipp Demandt如此撰文。

这位最年轻的艺术家在1982年德国卡塞尔文献展上崭露头角已经是30多年前的事了。展览从伦敦巴比肯中心(Barbican Centre)开始巡展。伦敦的“巴斯奎亚：真正的轰动“展共分为14章节，共有100多件作品，详细介绍了巴斯奎亚短暂而多产的艺术生涯。其中展出了他的代表作品并展映了罕见的采访片段和他主演的电影《市中心，81年》(Downtown 81)。
